2025 Conference Wrap-Up

Thank you to the 165 registrants and 18 exhibitors who joined us in Atlanta for the 48th Annual conference.  It was a full two and a half days of skill-building and breakout sessions.

We opened the conference learning about post-traumatic growth from Julie Larson, LICSW, were educated during the second day about racial indifference by Dr. Nadiria  Upshaw and closed out with Dr. Katherine Brock sharing her advice on communication and ethical principles from a palliative care perspective.

Three skill building sessions, 4 breakouts, and a panel provided opportunities for a total of 14 CEs throughout the conference. Special Interest Groups (SIGs) met on two mornings, and provided an opportunity for us to collaborate around common interests. We were thrilled to have the Solo Social Workers meet to kick off the conference, the Hematology SIG meet for the second year, and to host our first SIG for Supervisors, Managers, and Directors.  SIGs will plan to meet throughout the year.

You may join any of the SIGs throughout the year - keep your eyes open for updates on the APOSW website, and be sure to update your member profiles to add your areas of interest.

A conference attendee shared, “I wanted to reiterate how grateful I am for the opportunity to be selected as a recipient of the scholarship which allowed me to attend the conference. I gained invaluable insight and really enjoyed connecting with oncology social workers from all over the country.”

Another member stated, "The conference was fantastic! The keynote speakers set the tone for reflection, personal/professional growth and inspiration in the work that we do everyday with our patients, their families, and the medical team. There is so much to take back to our clinics/hospitals from these conferences which is why I hope to keep attending each year!”
